'Ted's Trip' polaroids
An ill-judged, if optimistic, venture into the world of film making that left me with that most authentic of artefact, the polaroid.
In July of 2002 we drove a $500 truck from New York to the Burning Man festival. Working with an old friend in NYC we were hopng to carve a road movie out of the experience. It was a time before YouTube and smart phones, when digital cameras were in their infancy. It was a long time ago.
We sailed on into Mexico to return with the Fall to a cold November on the East Coast, eighty hours of footage and no real idea how to harness the story. My friend dilgently pushed a trailer into being, I remained confused.
I look back on it now as a time of burgeoning creativity running into the headwinds of an unresolved past; it was doomed yet magnificent.
